The Gospel of Luke
The Gospel of Luke is one of the three Canonical New Testament synoptic Gospels [Matthew, Mark & Luke] and some commentators argue that the gospel was written to be read aloud. The author assumes that he is writing to an educated Greek-speaking audience, but specifically directs his attention to Christian concerns rather than to the Greco-Roman world at large. He begins his gospel with a preface addressed to an individual known as " Theophilus" which means "Lover of God" We also find this title at the very beginning of Luke's second work the Book of Acts.
